On a similar theme

Carrying on from last week in a similar vein, here we have Welsh music legend Mike Peters playing guitar with his two sons and a few other youngsters at this year’s Gathering event on January 31st. The song being played was “One Guitar” by Willie Nile.  I’m not sure what song Paul and Tom were playing in the “father and son” photo I posted last week!

Talking of the Gathering, this year was the 23rd event.  Although I now tend to simply carry a compact (Canon G11) to grab shots for posterity like the one above, there was a time when I would take a fairly serious amount of photo kit along in order to provide potentially useful images to the organisers.  Few people were able to get reasonable photos at gigs in the days of film (fast film, spot meter and long zoom lens required), but now of course a phone is all you need!  Anyway, the black and white photo below was one such photo that the organisers did find a use for; it was used on an official t-shirt for another Mike Peters related event!  I was over the moon, and being a fan I didn’t mind at all.  I’ve tried to ape the original black shot with two colour ones from this year.  I’m tempted to say “it’s not the same” because of the lack of grain etc, but it’s a record of the event and I’m a fan of Mike’s so on some levels the photos still work.
