One Guitar

003 Red Guitar - Final LR

The connection with the previous post is “one guitar”, the song being played at the time the shutter was pressed and of course it’s the subject of the image shown above (originally Kodachrome, yes we’re really getting into the archives).  What could the next picture be?  Possibly railway related because of the sleepers…

The guitar is a Patrick Eggle mahogany neck and body bought for £35 at a sale of old bits, off-cuts etc that happened in the mid-1990s at their factory.  Joining the wood and fitting the electrics was done by people far more qualified than me in such matters!  My attempt at a Ferrari red colour scheme came from an aerosol spray of Peugeot Cherry Red from Halfords.  It was used intensively during my Druidspear period.  I’ve since gone acoustic.

Finding a suitable spot to photograph a guitar is difficult and this photo is out of context really. Why would anyone leave a guitar in the garden?!  I suppose there’s a contrast in terms of the material they’re made from; the guitar is meant to be a thing of beauty ready to start a musical journey and the sleepers are rough sawn planks that have reached the end of their normal useful life.  (The sleepers now form quite a good retaining wall that’s unlikely to rot!) Usually, a guitar is photographed sitting on a chair (etc) in order to provide an image for insurance or ebay purposes.
